DARK LARK Stargazing

As part of the Off Season a special stargazing event is coming in July 2026

Professor Cole is one of Tasmania’s leading astronomical researchers, and director of the UTAS Greenhill Observatory. Under his guidance darkness becomes the destination, with the night sky brought to life with through telescope assisted viewing and starmap projections of the cosmos.

These night sky viewings will also feature local Indigenous stories of the southern stars, with special guests sharing cultural perspectives of milaythina wurangkili or “sky country.”

Amateur astronomers and whisky enthusiasts can relax in the DARK LARK Stargazing Lounge, an atmospheric outdoor bar, complete with premium winter menu of hot whisky and gin cocktails; designed to immerse visitors in the beauty and wonder of Tasmania’s winter night sky. Be sure to join us on one of these events over July and August to explore the deepest, darkest corners of our island, and embrace what the nightfall brings.
