Crowned Australia's Best at the 2024 World Whiskies Awards

LARK Fresh IPA Cask was Crowned Australia's Best Single Malt  and Symphony Nº1 was Crowned Australia's Best Blended Malt for the third year in a row at the 2024 World Whiskies Awards

The World Whiskies Awards showcase the most exceptional whiskies from around the globe, and LARK is cementing it's position as the leader in New World Whisky.

This year the World Whiskies Awards saw more than 1600 entries across 22 internationally recognised categories including Single Malts, Blended Malts, Bourbon, and Rye.

Big cheers to those that make us, and those that drink us. Crafted from pure grain to glass, always Made of Tasmania.

LARK Fresh IPA Cask was Crowned Australia's Best Single Malt Whisky. We joined forces with New Zealand's Garage Project to bring you an unrepeatable drop, a meeting of Master Brewers and Blenders. Our single malt casks were seasoned with four of Garage Project’s distinctive IPAs, imparting vibrant flavours from our favourite brews. This exclusive limited release was not just a whisky but a celebration of the unexpected, where worlds collide in controlled chaos to distil a spirit of adventure.

The Judging Panel described LARK Fresh IPA Cask as: Aromas of clementine, raspberry sour beer, and sour cherry, leading to an oily palate with notes of chocolate and funky fruit juice. The medium-long finish brings notes of apricot and liquorice

For the third year running, Symphony Nº1 has taken out the category win for Australia's Best Blended Malt, cementing it's place as one of the best in the world.

Our Head Distiller and Master Blender, Chris Thomson, has expertly woven the complexity of American oak bourbon with the balance of sherry and heavier depth of port to form a creamy, oily melody of flavours.

It's luscious and fruity on the nose with fresh mango, toasted pineapple and vanilla. Tasmanian apples dipped in toffee dance on the palate as it evolves into a fruity and citrus finish. An exceptional whisky with length, poise and incredible balance.

This international award-winning malt whisky is full of life from start to finish and carries the uncompromised signature style of LARK whisky - a true Tasmanian icon.

Crowned Australia's Best Blended Malt at the 2024 World Whiskies Awards for the Best Blended Malt.

Symphony Nº1 represents a composition of exceptional Tasmanian single malt whiskies.

Crafted from a symphony of complementary casks, Head Distiller Chris Thomson has expertly woven the complexity of American oak bourbon with the balance of sherry and heavier depth of port to form a creamy, oily melody of flavours; a malt whisky that’s full of life from start to finish and carries the un-compromised signature of Lark Whisky—a Tasmanian icon.

Inspired by the teachings of the Godfather of Australian Whisky, our Head Distiller, Chris, has been distilling at Lark since 2007.

"When I go to a bar, I like to order several single malts and an empty glass. And I blend whiskies from all these different distilleries right there at the table. It feels like I’m painting a picture with a palette of different colours.

We’ve been talking about creating a blended malt here at Lark for a very long time. As far as I’m concerned, we’re amongst the few in Australia who can pull it off. We began our journey by looking through our portfolios, and were pleased to find that our Bothwell distillery was producing a whisky with some incredible pineapple and tropical notes - that’s really rare. We added a little bit of sherry cask for sweetness, and fortified for depth. There are notes of other whisky genres in there, too, like bourbon and rye. I wanted to create something that would feel relatable. Something that would feel like ‘home’ to anyone who’d experienced it."
