What is Cask Strength Whisky?
When bottling a cask strength whisky, we're bottling straight from the cask in its most natural form.
Whiskies that aren't labelled as Cask Strength are brought down to a certain alcohol percentage which is often referred to as bottling strength. We do this by adding water from our local Tasmanian sources to balance out each batch to the desired ABV.
Cask Strength has a more natural, bolder, richer and denser flavour profile sought out by our Head Distiller Chris Thomson. Nothing more, nothing less.
How does it impact the flavour?
Pulling straight from the cask allows you to explore more of the flavours in a more concentrated, defined, punchier dram. You'll really get to know the specific casks flavours that seep through from the oaks wood grain and develop during the maturation process.
How should you drink it?
The LARK distillers will sample straight from the cask, the same way you will experience any Cask Strength LARK whiskies straight from the bottle. We recommend adding a small touch of water a little at a time and find your perfect balance to enjoy the higher-proof Cask Strength. Drink it at room temperature or over ice, it's your whisky and everyone is different so drink it in a way that puts a smile on your face.
